She commended the association’s strong mentorship initiatives, noting their importance in guiding and supporting the next generation of professionals.
She also cautioned against early compartmentalization of children into narrow academic disciplines, advocating instead for a strong liberal education foundation that builds critical thinking skills and adaptability in a rapidly changing world.
Highlighting the role of women across all sectors, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang stressed the need for women to make their voices heard, particularly during policy formulation at every level.
She emphasized that fear should never be a barrier to participation or leadership, insisting that women’s perspectives must shape national decision-making.
The discussion also touched on language in education, with Prof. Opoku-Agyemang underscoring the value of teaching in local languages.
She noted that mother-tongue instruction enhances understanding by linking learning to a child’s immediate environment, thereby strengthening comprehension and confidence at an early stage.
