Konkomba Youth Association calls for calm in Gulumpe after recent disturbances

Kintampo, Bono East, Oct. 24. The Konkomba Youth Association (KOYA) has urged residents of Gulumpe and surrounding communities in the Kintampo North Municipality to remain calm following recent disturbances.

In a statement, Mr Titus Jawol, National President of KOYA, expressed concern over the incidents, extended sympathy to those affected, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured. The Association reaffirmed its solidarity with affected families.

KOYA, which advocates for peace and development among the Konkomba and other ethnic communities, called on youth and all parties involved to exercise restraint and allow authorities and community leaders to resolve outstanding issues through peaceful and lawful means.

“Our progress as people depends on our ability to live peacefully with one another, even in the face of disagreement. Let us remain calm and work together for the greater good,” the statement said. It emphasised dialogue, mutual respect, and cooperation as the most effective tools for resolving differences and promoting unity.

The Association also commended the timely intervention by the Bono East Regional Minister, the Paramount Chief of the Buipe Traditional Area, the Konkomba Chief of Kintampo, security agencies, the Gonjaland Youth Association, and KOYA’s local executives, whose coordinated efforts helped de-escalate tensions.

KOYA reaffirmed its commitment to working with traditional authorities, opinion leaders, and youth groups to promote reconciliation and sustainable peace, encouraging community members to foster peaceful coexistence and constructive engagement.
