The Krachi East Municipal Assembly has pulled down several old and dilapidated public toilet structures across Dambai township as part of a renewed drive to improve sanitation and safeguard public health.
The exercise, carried out at Dambai Old Town, Wankayaw and Lakeside, was conducted in collaboration with the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) coordinator.
The structures, long considered a danger to residents, had posed persistent sanitation and health risks.

According to Mr Seth Kumah, Personal Assistant to the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), the decision was necessary because the facilities had deteriorated to the point where they threatened community safety.
He said the assembly could not delay action any longer due to the increasing concerns over public health.
Residents who spoke to the Ghana News Agency welcomed the demolition, describing it as a timely intervention, especially following reports of multiple typhoid cases in the municipality.
The move forms part of the MCE’s broader efforts to enhance hygiene standards and restore a cleaner environment in the municipal capital.
