Residents and business operators in Sogakope and surrounding communities have expressed frustration over a prolonged power outage that has disrupted daily life and economic activities.
The blackout, which began on Sunday, October 26, 2025, has affected numerous homes and businesses, particularly coldstore operators and small-scale enterprises that rely heavily on electricity for their operations.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), some residents lamented the negative impact of the outage on their livelihoods and called on the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) to restore power without further delay.

In response, GRIDCo confirmed that the transmission line serving Sogakope suffered damage at approximately 16:01 hours, triggering the outage. The company said its line maintenance team had been mobilised to repair the fault and restore power to the affected areas.
“GRIDCo sincerely apologises to all affected residents for the inconvenience caused by this incident,” the statement read. The company assured residents that stringent measures were being taken to complete the repairs and restore the electricity supply as soon as possible.
