The Wamfie District Magistrate Court in the Dormaa East District, Bono Region, has remanded three suspected illegal miners in police custody.
The accused Moses Ayando (30), Joseph Akuwaaya (32), and John Akanboei (34) appeared before the court presided over by Mr Eugene Obeng Ntim for mining without a license. A fourth suspect, Kwaku Atingani (16), was granted GHS 50,000 bail with one surety. All suspects are scheduled to reappear in court on November 4, 2025.
According to Chief Inspector Thomas Akeelah, Public Relations Officer of the Bono Regional Police Command, the suspects were arrested on October 22, 2025, at Akontanim near Wamfie during an operation conducted by an anti-galamsey taskforce established by Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area.

The police issued a stern warning to all individuals involved in illegal mining activities within the region, urging them to desist or face arrest, investigation, and prosecution.
