In the early hours of Sunday, as most residents of Buipe were beginning their day, five courageous firefighters set out on a mission to protect lives and property.
According to the Savannah Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), DOII Salisu Mohammed Sirilbaini, the Buipe Fire Station received a distress call reporting a fire outbreak in the township.
He explained that five firefighters were immediately deployed, with the fire tender dispatched at once, sirens blaring to alert motorists and pedestrians to give way.

Tragically, the journey ended in disaster. DOII Sirilbaini revealed that before the crew could reach the fire scene, the fire engine lost control, veered off the road, and overturned.
In a painful twist of fate, the very men trained to rescue others became victims themselves. The crash left all five firefighters injured, turning what should have been a lifesaving operation into a desperate struggle for their own survival.
Videos circulating on social media show passersby and emergency responders rushing to the scene to rescue the injured firefighters from the crashed fire tender.
The emotional scenes captured in the footage have once again highlighted the dangers firefighters face each time they respond to an emergency call in the line of duty.
The injured firefighters were later transported to the Buipe Government Hospital for medical treatment.
As the community anxiously awaits positive updates on their condition, the incident has renewed public reflection on the sacrifices and risks emergency personnel endure daily to keep lives and property safe.
