The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the deportation of three Israelis who arrived in Ghana earlier today, a move triggered by what it describes as the ill-treatment and unjustified deportation of three Ghanaian nationals by Israeli authorities.

The government took the decision as a direct response, signalling its unwillingness to allow any violation of the dignity of its citizens.

With the Israeli Ambassador out of the jurisdiction, the Charge d’Affaires ad Interim of the Embassy of the State of Israel was urgently summoned to the Ministry for engagement on the matter.

According to the Ministry, both governments have committed to resolving the issue amicably, even as Ghana asserts its right to safeguard the wellbeing of its people.

The government emphasised that Ghana values its relations with friendly countries but expects its citizens to be treated with the same respect and dignity accorded to the nationals of other states.

It added that this principle applies equally to all foreign nationals living in or visiting Ghana.
